so, i was hanging out with adwords today and my curiosity bit me in the SEO ass.
when we are doing keyword research, Google keyword tool will generate related keywords + estimated cost per click for the keywords.
for example,
“self storage in long beach” was suggested at $0.05
“what i cheap keyword phrase” was what i came into my mind, but i wanted to verify with my adwords account. I soon came to realize that to be on first page for that keyword, adwords is suggesting to me to place my max CPC to $12 (which is very high), and whats more alarming was that i already had a click for that keyword phrase and i actually paid $16.86
SO this is truly my Google adwords WTF moment!
I hope some Google representative can shed some light on this.

oh my god !
Wait, are you telling me you set your bid to OVER $16.86 for that keyword?
Though I don’t appear to see your max bid ammount. I’m not sure how you’re using Adwords, but always make sure that you set a fairly low max bid (no more then $1 a click).
The high bid cost is usually due to a poor quality score on the landing page. Try optimizing the page to improve quality score, remove any poor quality content and write your own.
